Meet the Speakers
Prof. Att is the Director of Postgraduate Program at the Department of Prosthodontics, Dental School, University of Freiburg. He is a board-certified prosthodontist from the German Society of Prosthodontics and Biomaterials (DGPro) and active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED). He serves as Past President of the Prosthodontics Group of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) as well as President of the Arabian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (ARAED) and Vice President of the International Academy for Digital Dental Medicine (IADDM). Prof. Att obtained his DDS degree in 1997 from Tishreen University and received the Dr Med Dent (2003) and PhD (2010) degrees as well as the title of extraordinary professor (2013) from the University of Freiburg. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor from 2005 to 2007 at the Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology, UCLA School of Dentistry. Prof. Att’s teaching and clinical activities focus on perio-prosthetic rehabilitation of multidisciplinary cases as well as the implementation of digital technologies in reconstructive dentistry.
Dr. Ueli Grunder received his DMD degree from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, in 1982. His post-graduate education in advanced fixed prosthodontics also came from the University of Zurich. He received his specialist in fixed prosthodontics of the Swiss Society of Prosthodontics (SSRD) and in implantology of the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology (SGI). He maintains a private practice together with Thomas Gaberthüel from 1989 – 2014 and with David Schneider and Ronald Jung since 2014 in Zollikon-Zurich and has published numerous papers and extensively lectured nationally and internationally on the surgical and prosthetic aspects of implant dentistry. His book “Implants in the aesthetic zone” was published by Quintessence” 2015. Dr. Grunder is Past-president of the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology (SSOI) and Past-President of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED).
Dr. Marinello passed his Board examination from the University of Zurich. He served as Assistant Professor and acting head of the Dental Public Health Clinic and was Assistant and Associate Professor, Department of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Dental Material Sciences, University of Zurich. He also served as a Visiting Research Professor, Department of Periodontology, at the University of Gothenburg, where he received his Master of Science degree. He was Associate Professor and Head of Periodontology, Department of Preventive Dentistry, Periodontology and Cariology at the University of Zurich. From 1995 to 2015 he was full-time Professor and Chairman of the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry and Temporomandibular Disorders at the Dental School of the University of Basel. He received the Distinguished Lecturer Award from the American College of Prosthodontics and from the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He received by the Pierre Fauchard Academy the Elmer S. Best Memorial Award. In 2011 he was the President of the American Prosthodontic Society. Since 2015 he is a Professor emeritus of the University of Basel.

Irena Sailer received her dental education and Dr. med. dent. degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tübingen, Germany in 1997/ 1998. In 2003 Dr. Sailer received an Assistant Professorship at the Clinic of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Dental Material Sciences in Zurich. From 2010 on she was an Associate Professor at the same clinic. In 2007 Dr. Sailer was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Biomaterials and Biomimetics, Dental College, New York University, USA. Additionally, since 2009 she holds an Adjunct Associate Professorship at the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, Robert Schattner Center, School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia, USA. Since September 2013 she is the Head of the Division of Fixed Prosthodontics and Biomaterials at the University of Geneva. Irena Sailer is a Specialist for Prosthodontics (Swiss Society for Reconstructive Dentistry), and holds a specialization degree for Dental Implantology (WBA) of the Swiss Society for Dentistry. She is a Member of the Board of the Swiss Society of Reconstructive Dentistry and of the Swiss Leadership Team of the ITI (International Team for Implantology). Furthermore, Irena Sailer serves the Scientific Boards of the European Association of Osseointegration and the Swiss Society of Implantology. Irena Sailer is currently a Board Member of the EAO, an Active Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and an Active Fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics.
Nitzan Bichacho, D.M.D. holds the post of expert in prosthodontics at the rank of professor, at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, where he graduated.
He is Past President and a Life Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED) and serves at the editorial boards of leading international dental journals. He is the conceptor and creator of novel techniques, materials and systems that have become widely used around the world.
Prof. Bichacho has been publishing and lecturing extensively worldwide in the fields of dental implant therapy, fixed prosthodontics, interdisciplinary treatments and innovative treatment modalities in esthetic dentistry.
His private practice in Tel Aviv focuses on interdisciplinary treatments.
Dr. Arndt Happe was born in 1969 in Münster, Germany. He graduated from the University of Münster, Germany as a Doctor for Dental Medicine in 1994. He spent 3 years as a resident for Professor Dr. Fouad Khoury at the private Clinic for Implantology and Esthetic Dentistry in Olsberg and graduated for Oral Surgery in 1999. Since 1999 he established a renown Private & Referral Practice in Münster, treating Implant, Perio, Restorative and Esthetic Cases. He obtained an advanced degree in Implantology (2000) and Periodontology (2004) from the German Societies for Implantology and Periodontology respectively. Since 2010 he is a research fellow and external lecturer at the University of Cologne and in 2013 received his postdoctoral lecture Qualification and presently holds an Assistant Professorship from the same University. He published several articles including chapters in the textbook “Bone Augmentation in Oral Implantology”, by Prof. Khoury and “Bone, Biomaterials and Beyond” by Prof. Barone and Prof. Nannmark. He is a lecturer on implant treatment, esthetics and soft tissue management in several postgraduate programs, Master courses and at the University of Cologne. He is an active member of the European Academy for Esthetic Dentistry.
Konrad H. Meyenberg graduated at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He afterwards completed his 4-year post-graduate program in reconstructive dentistry in Zurich at the department for fixed and removable prosthodontics and material sciences (chairman: Prof. Peter Schärer). His special areas of interests and research are perioprosthetics, adhesive dentistry, esthetic prosthodontics and implant dentistry.
He maintains a private practice limited to esthetic reconstructive dentistry in Zurich, Switzerland, together with 3 partners ( Christian Ramel & Marco Imoberdorf: periodontology & implant surgery, Frank Paqué: endodontics & microsurgery). He is a senior lecturer at the Universitis of Zurich, Dental Schools. Speaker at numerous international congresses. He published numerous articles in the fields of esthetic dentistry, perio-prosthodontics and implant prosthodontics.
Active Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the Academy of Osseointegration and the Swiss Society of Reconstructive Dentistry. He is a certified specialist for Reconstructive Dentistry of the Swiss and European Dental Society and Fellow of the ITI. Prof. Dr. J. R. Strub received his D.D.S., Dr. Med. Dent. and Dr. Med. Dent. Habil. (PhD equiv) degrees from the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 1975/1985 and the Dr. h.c. from the National and Kapodistrian University, Athens, Greece, in 2008. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Biomaterials at Tulane University and Louisiana State University, New Orleans, USA, 1982-1983. From 1982-1988 he was Associate Professor and co-director of the Graduate Programme in Periodontal Prosthetics at the University of Zurich. From 1988- 2016 he was Professor and Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany. Since October 2016 Prof. Dr. J. R. Strub is Professor Emeritus (Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany). He is part-time in private practice and works as consultant for companies.

Dr. Gerd Körner qualified with a BDS from the University of Münster in 1975 followed by an advanced gradual residency program in Periodontics and restorative dentistry at Münster University. Since 1981 he runs a renowned private practice in Bielefeld specialized in periodontics and perio-prosthodontics including implantology and particularly complex aesthetic cases. After publishing his first text book “ArtOral” together with Klaus Müterthies in 1996 he became a board member of different clinical journals and in 2007 he was appointed as a faculty member of the German Society of Periodontology for “Master of Science in Periodontology and Implant Treatment”. He has a number of publications to his name on the subject of minimal- invasive dentistry concerning especially periodontally compromised cases. His last text book “ArtOral: Non – Invasive, Minimal – invasive, Invasive” published by Quintessence in 2011 together with Klaus Müterthies highlights modern restorative concepts in periodontal and implant treatment. Since 1990 he has been lecturing for different dental institutes in the field of periodontics and implantology worldwide and has been keynote speaker to numerous national and international dental, scientific congresses. Since 2015 he is active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED).
Dr. Giano Ricci graduated in medicine and specialized in dentistry at University of Florence Italy. In 1972 he obtained the Master of Science degree in Periodontology from Boston University. He is an author of numerous publications in the periodontal field and author of the recent book “Diagnosis and Periodontal Therapy” published by Quintessence (2014). Active member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), honorary Member of the Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AIOP), he is Co Founder, Past President, Active Member of the Italian Society of Periodontology and Immediate Past President of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He has delivered lectures, practical demonstrations, continuing education courses in Periodontology, Implantology, and Esthetic Dentistry in Europe, the United States, and Japan.
He graduated from the school of dental technology in 1985. He then acquired a BSc Hons from the School of Dental Technology of the Technological Educational Institution of Athens (1989). In 1990, he established his own dental laboratory “AestheticLab” in Athens. Since 2001, he has been Opinion Leader for Noritake Dental, Ivoclar Vivadent and MPF Brush Co. in Greece. Since May 2014 he is an editorial reviewer at the AACD’s Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry (jCD). He specializes in aesthetic all-ceramic and implant restorations. His laboratory collaborates with the Dental School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and its postgraduate programs of Dental Prosthodontics and Dental Surgery, as well as with the Department of Prosthodontics of the Eastman Institute of Oral Health of the University of Rochester, USA. Since September 2015, he is cooperating to the practical education of the Postgraduate program leading to a Master of Science Degree in dental Biomaterials/Materials of Dental Technology. The program is operated by The Department of Dental Technology of the Technological Institution of Athens in conjunction with the Dental School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. Nondas Vlachopoulos is leading many educational hands-on courses in Greece and worldwide (USA, South America, Europe, Asia and Middle East). He is invited to lecture on dental aesthetics at international meetings and congresses. He has published articles in Greek and international Dental Technology journals.
Dr Didier Dietschi was licensed in 1984 and got his doctoral and Privat Docent degrees in 1988 and 2004, respectively, at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He also got a PhD degree in 2003 at the University of ACTA, Netherlands. Following a 6-year period of full time teaching and research activity in Operative Dentistry and Periodontology, he started a part time activity in a private office in Geneva, dedicated to aesthetic restorative dentistry. He holds now positions of adjunct Professor at CASE Western University (USA) and senior lecturer at the University of Geneva. Dr. Dietschi has published more than 100 clinical and scientific papers and book chapters on adhesive and aesthetic restorations; he also co-authored the book “Adhesive Metal-free Restorations”, edited in 1997 by Quintessence and translated in 7 languages. Dr. Dietschi is internationally acclaimed for his theoretical and practical teaching programs on adhesive & aesthetic restorations.
Dr. Malament received his D.D.S. from N.Y.U. College of Dentistry and a specialty certificate and Master’s degree from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. Dr. Malament has a full time practice limited to prosthodontics in Boston that includes a dental laboratory with master dental technologists. A Past-President of the American Board of Prosthodontics, he is a Clinical Professor at Tufts University and a Course Director in the postgraduate department of Prosthodontics. Dr. Malament is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Prosthodontics, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, and Northeastern Gnathological Society and a Past President of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, Northeastern Gnathological Society and the American Academy of Dental Science. He has served as the Secretary and Director of the American College of Prosthodontists and Secretary-Treasurer of the International College of Prosthodontists. He presently serves as President-Elect of the Academy of Prosthodontics and Treasurer of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Malament has been the recipient of significant awards in Prosthodontics including the American College of Prosthodontists’ Clinician / Researcher Award, Daniel F. Gordon Award for Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Lecturer Award, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics’ George Moulton Award for Outstanding Achievement, the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics Distinguished Lecturer Award, the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry John McLean Honorary Lecture Award and the first Frank V. Celenza Memorial Award from the Northeastern Gnathological Society. Dr. Malament was on the research and development teams for two different well-known ceramic products and developed instrumentation used in clinical practice.
